Robert and Gabriel are both music and sound lovers. Robert is a research and development engineer in the field of electronics and embedded systems with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Gabriel is a full-pledge PHP and Javascript developer and Director of Technologies at Totem Acoustic with a passion for electronics. The two joined forces while seeking support for the development of a device that could bridge the gap between satisfying sound quality and digital streamed music.
Both Robert and Gabriel were avidly seeking a device that could stream their digital music yet still deliver the sound quality they were accustomed to. As their search proved fruitless, they started to develop a device on their own. The result is the ARC, a simple, compact and easy-to-use custom Class-D digital receiver and amplifier which has the capacity to receive a digital music stream via Bluetooth or USB and deliver the sound quality that music enthusiasts expect.
The need: A small, easy to use, wireless solution for a desktop amplifier that can provide sound quality for digitally streamed music with the capacity to satisfy all the needs of the HiFi audio enthusiast.

Robert always has been interested in building high-end stereo systems, however being an engineer, his definition of “building a system” isn't putting stereo components together like most people. When he builds a system he literally builds it from scratch, from soldering together bare circuit boards to drilling holes and machining the enclosure that will house the electronics. One of his latest projects was a very nice HiFi stereo amplifier with all the bells and whistles you would usually expect: an AM/FM tuner, tone control, multiple inputs, etc. The amplifier came out great, but he came to realize that all he ever did with it was stream music to it via an iPad using a Bluetooth receiver that he built in. At that point he realized that all he really needed was a digital input for his sound system, everything else was superfluous. He decided to take this idea to the extreme and build a system that would be very compact and minimalist but would still satisfy all the needs of the HiFi audio enthusiast. The ARC was born.
