Take your favorite classic games mobile, with Lyra

A company by the name of Creoqode is looking to allow you to take all of your favorite classic games on the go with a new handheld gaming unit called Lyra. It looks like some of your classic handheld solutions like GameGear or Gameboy Advance, only they promise that it can play virtually any classic game or emulate virtually any classic console.

Of course, no we are talking about emulation, so hopefully, this project will take off without any legal troubles. They would have to be in cahoots with the companies behind all of those classic consoles in order to pull this off. But if they do, then it might be time to brush the dust off of those games you used to love to play so much.

The new handheld system can also be plugged into a TV via HDMI and paired with wireless remotes so that you can play on a larger screen with friends. Doing this, you can also turn it into a personal computer by accessing the Raspberry Pi that it runs off of.

Powered by a Raspberry Pi CM3L, 1GB of RAM, and a 1.4GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, it should be able to run all of your favorite games from both the 80s and 90s.

It comes both pre-assembled and ready to go, or you can choose a DIY version that allows you to build the handheld console from various parts so that you can learn about what goes on inside of such a device (no soldering thankfully).

It’s still in the Kickstarter phase, but they have at least raised nearly twice of what they were looking for originally, so hopefully, we might see this play out. Time will tell. For now, you can learn more about it here.
